About Thiruvananthapuram


Thiruvananthapuram (formerly, Trivandrum), the capital of Kerala - God's own country, is a beautiful seaside city located on the west coast of India near the extreme south of the mainland spreading over a total of 2,192 sq.km, which Mahatma Gandhi referred once as the “Evergreen City of India”. The city houses many government offices, organizations and companies and is also a major academic hub. Major tourist attractions in Thiruvananthapuram include the Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple, Kovalam beach, Padmanabhapuram palace, Ponmudi hill station and Shangumugham beach. Weather in January is usually very pleasant with average temperature around 28°C.

Kanyakumari, the southern tip of India is located around 100 km from Thiruvananthapuram, well connected by both road and rail. Padmanabhapuram Palace, Thiruvattar and Thirparappu waterfalls are located on the way to Kanyakumari from Thiruvananthapuram.
